Objectives and competences

In this course, we analyze the social and cultural landscapes of Barcelona through the perspective of gastronomy to understand the complexities that arise with migratory processes. We focus on issues related to personal and collective migrant identity, adaptation, assimilation and adjustment, "authenticity", fusion, trend creation and more. This course will be of special interest to students from the fields of anthropology, sociology, history, media studies, food studies, cultural studies, business, geography and communication.

Objectives

- To identify, summarize and describe relevant business theories in relation to the food business.
- To analyse "real world" case studies related to issues specific to the food business.

- To receive recommendations for action related to case studies.
- To be able to draw up a business plan for a food business.
- To understand the main concepts needed to describe and discuss typical management decisions related to food businesses.

Recommended applicant profile

- Students from educational institutions in the United States with an international agreement with specialized entities.
- Exceptionally, vacancies can be filled with national and international university students who accredit a B2 level of English at least

Access requirements and conditions

The course is also open to students with no prior university education, who will acquire the same knowledge and skills and receive a specific qualification for their learner group. Information on the access requirements and other conditions can be obtained from the course directors.
