Objectives and competences

This microcredential offers specialized and applied training in evaluation techniques, with high demand in both the public and private sectors. Provides tools to conduct or manage evaluations and to interpret their results critically. The training is cross-disciplinary and useful across various fields, sectors and administrative levels. The Government of Catalonia, through the Ministries of Economy and Finance and of Territory, Housing and Ecological Transition, and the Federation of Municipalities of Catalonia, support and collaborate with the initiative.

Objectives

- Understand the conceptual foundations of public policy evaluation, including its objectives, functions and typologies.
- Understand the public policy cycle and identify the key points where it is relevant to incorporate evaluation processes.
- Develop skills to design and implement evaluation processes, including defining indicators, selecting methodologies and collecting data.
- Master qualitative and quantitative evaluation techniques, and know how to apply them appropriately according to the context and objectives of the policy being evaluated.
- Interpret and communicate evaluation results clearly and effectively, facilitating evidence-based decision-making.
- Critically analyse real examples of public policy evaluations, identifying good practices and transferable lessons.
- Foster a critical and ethical attitude towards evaluation processes, considering their usefulness, limitations, and impacts on public management and citizenship.

Recommended applicant profile

Technical staff from administration or consulting and support service companies for businesses and governments in the fields of design, consulting, and policy assessment, as well as those who aspire to make evaluation part of their future professional focus.

Access requirements and conditions

The course is also open to students with no prior university education, who will acquire the same knowledge and skills and receive a specific qualification for their learner group. Information on the access requirements and other conditions can be obtained from the course directors.
