The Expert Course in "Behaviour, conservation and welfare of primates" offers training to deepen the study of the behaviour, conservation and welfare of primates. With an interdisciplinary approach, it addresses the conservation of primates in conditions of freedom and/or captivity, highlighting current trends in captive management to promote the welfare of primates.

Objectives and competences
Objectives
- To train students in the principles and applications of animal welfare in primates, addressing the factors that affect their physical and psychological health in captivity and in the wild.
- To deepen knowledge of the challenges in primate conservation, including habitat loss, illegal trafficking and climate change.
- To provide practical skills in conservation strategies and management of primate populations, through the use of scientific tools and conservation policies.
- To promote an ethical and responsible approach to primate research and management, ensuring respect for species and local communities.
- To provide a solid scientific basis for the application of strategies to improve the welfare of primates in different contexts, such as rescue and rehabilitation centres, zoos, bioparks and reintroduction projects.
- To promote an interdisciplinary vision of primate conservation and welfare, integrating knowledge of biology, ecology, ethology and social sciences.
- To train students in scientific communication and dissemination on the conservation and welfare of primates, promoting their role as professionals and agents of change in this field.
