Objectives and competences

Objectives

- Understand the fundamentals of primate behaviour and evolution, analysing the ecological, social and biological factors that have shaped their behavioural adaptations.

- To deepen the study of cognition in primates, exploring their cognitive, emotional and social capacities from a comparative perspective.

- To train students in methodologies for observing and studying behaviour, both in natural conditions and in controlled environments.

- To provide skills in field primatology, including techniques for recording behaviour, individual recognition and analysis of ecological data.

- To provide tools for the analysis and interpretation of data in primate ethology studies, including applied statistics and specialized software.

- To promote scientific dissemination and communication in primate ethology, providing students with the necessary skills to publish and present their work in scientific and professional forums.

- To develop academic and professional skills in the field of primatology, providing tools for job placement and collaboration in interdisciplinary projects.

Recommended applicant profile

Aimed at students interested in rigorous research into the most relevant aspects of biology, behaviour and cognition, with a particular interest in the study of primate behaviour, cognition and their biological evolution.

Access requirements and conditions

The course is also open to students with no prior university education, who will acquire the same knowledge and skills and receive a specific qualification for their learner group. Information on the access requirements and other conditions can be obtained from the course directors.
