Objectives and competences

The Master's Degree in Primatology offers you a unique training to deepen the study of the biology, behaviour, cognition, conservation and welfare of primates. With an interdisciplinary approach, it addresses current challenges such as the climate emergency and biodiversity loss, and highlights the importance of primates in understanding human behaviour and the evolution of our species.

Access and admission

Applicant profile and access requirements

Recommended applicant profile

Students interested in rigorous research into the most relevant aspects of primate biology, behaviour, cognition, conservation and welfare, from an interdisciplinary and integrative perspective. Preferably, university graduates in Psychology, Biology, Veterinary Medicine or Anthropology, with a particular interest in the study of primate behaviour, cognition and their biological evolution, as well as in the conservation and welfare of these species.

Admission Requirements:
The recommended admission profile is that of a graduate in Psychology, Biology, Veterinary, Anthropology or Environmental Sciences, in accordance with the criteria mentioned above.
Exceptionally, and provided that the supply of places is greater than the demand, admission may be considered, on a conditional basis, of those students who do not meet the access requirements, but who are expected to be able to meet them at the time of the start of the activities.
The selection criteria will be set in the following structure:

- Complementary academic or professional training. Certifications or complementary training qualifications in areas related to the contents of the master's degree (20%).
- Work experience in the subject areas of the master's degree, with certification from the company or companies where the professional work has been carried out. The certification must state the duration and the tasks carried out. Research experience in the form of stays in recognised research centres and publications related to the subjects of the master's degree will also be valued (10%).
- Reasoned application, with letters of recommendation, if applicable (5%).
- Interview with the master's degree supervisor (5%).
