Objectives and competences

The Sephard Broad College of Law of Nova Southeastern University (NSU) (Florida, USA) and the Faculty of Law of the University of Barcelona (UB) organize a summer program with the aim of offering a theoretical and practical vision of comparative law to law students. The course lasts three weeks and consists of four days of morning classes per week. Within the framework of the summer course, two outings related to the theme of the course are planned. It will offer a unique opportunity for NSU and UB students to exchange views and experiences.

Objectives and competences

Objectives

This summer course provides an overview of the Chinese legal system and the legal framework of international sale of goods and commercial arbitration. The first part of the course focuses on Chinese law, including its historical development and practical topics such as contract law and foreign investment. The second part deals with the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG) and arbitration as a method of dispute resolution. Students will participate in practical exercises to apply the legal principles discussed, combining theory and practice for a well-rounded education in comparative and international law.

Recommended applicant profile

- Law students who have completed at least two years of studies.
- Adequate level of English to be able to follow and participate in classes.

Access requirements and conditions

The course is also open to students with no prior university education, who will acquire the same knowledge and skills and receive a specific qualification for their learner group. Information on the access requirements and other conditions can be obtained from the course directors.
