Objectives and competences

This course is intended for bachelor's degree students in the biosciences who have passed at least 90 credits and who want to strengthen their experiential training in one of the lines of research in the UB's Faculty of Biology, whether they are interested in field work or laboratory stays. The course is taught during the second semester of 2024-25 and requires part-time dedication. Students will join the research group of their assigned professor and will perform experimental tasks under his or her direction and supervision.

Objectives

- To strengthen students' experiential training in a specific line of research in the Faculty of Biology.
- To execute sampling and experimental protocols.
- To gain the ability to obtain scientific data.
- To acquire the capacity to reliably analyse results.
-To gain experience in handling and using scientific instrumentation.
- To acquire the skills needed to effectively interact and participate as a member of a research group.
- To acquire the capacity for effective scientific communication.

Recommended applicant profile

Bachelor's degree students in the biosciences who have passed at least 90 credits and who have been pre-approved by one of the teachers of the course. All participants must voluntarily take out insurance at the time of enrolment.

Access requirements and conditions

The course is also open to students with no prior university education, who will acquire the same knowledge and skills and receive a specific qualification for their learner group. Information on the access requirements and other conditions can be obtained from the course directors.
