Objectives and competences

This course focuses on the general regime of public services, analyzing its transformations and perspectives, including the opening to regulated markets. It addresses both local and national services, with an emphasis on specific sectors such as transport, integral water cycle, telecommunications or waste management. The European experience is the central point, as well as the characteristics of the American reality. It is aimed mainly at graduates and young professionals in Latin America, where access to these services is crucial.

Objectives and competences

Objectives

The course aims to study the general regime of public services, their transformations (among others, the opening of many services to markets subject to public regulation) and their perspectives. Both local and national services. The regime and general principles of public services will be discussed and then certain sectors will be addressed (transport and mobility, integral water cycle, telecommunications, waste collection and treatment). Special attention will be paid to the European experience and also to the main features of the American reality.

Mainly, graduates and young professionals from Latin America, where the issue of implementation and access to public services is absolutely crucial and of great interest. Many are aware of our publications and activities, also developed there. These are mostly graduates in law, but also in political science, economics and sociology.

Access requirements and conditions

The course is also open to students with no prior university education, who will acquire the same knowledge and skills and receive a specific qualification for their learner group. Information on the access requirements and other conditions can be obtained from the course directors.
