The approach through vascular access has become essential in therapeutic management, and is one of the most prevalent techniques in any healthcare process of specialized care. Its use requires the management of various devices and access routes with different modalities and functionalities. It is one of the procedures most used by nursing professionals, it is estimated that up to 90% of hospitalized patients have venous access.

Objectives

- To acquire the knowledge, skills and aptitudes needed to develop a comprehensive approach to people requiring vascular access.
- To acquire the essential theory- and practice-based clinical judgement and skills to be able to provide nursing care in the various types of access and infusion therapy that ensures optimum patient safety.
- Facilitate professional development in the field of vascular therapy with criteria of excellence, as well as promote research in the field of competence.

Recommended applicant profile

Graduates and diploma-holders in nursing with an interest in broadening and deepening the knowledge and skills necessary for the comprehensive approach to vascular access and infusion therapy in the various situations that affect a person's state of health (intravenous therapy teams, pediatric services, critical care services, emergency services, oncology services, renal services) and who wish to achieve a degree of specialization that allows them to develop the skills required of nursing professionals in the field of infusion therapy units.

Observationsonline. Practical simulation workshops (face-to-face): from January 12 to 16, 2026, in afternoon sessions from 15.00 p.m. to 21.00 p.m. Practicum: 35 hours per week from Monday to Friday for 4 weeks, in the morning or afternoon shift or compacted in 2 intensive weeks (12h shifts) and in rotation in one or two centres with Vascular Access Units, between January and June 2026. 13 synchronous online webinars with vascular access experts in the afternoon, according to the calendar. Master's closing session (face-to-face): june 15, 2026 from 17.00 p.m. to 19.00 p.m.
