Objectives and competences

This postgraduate course is specialized in international certification, and specifically LEED. It offers the tools required to understand Passivhaus energy certification and to understand the bases for creating sustainable designs. It is an eminently practical postgraduate course based on learning international regulations on sustainability, LEED environmental certification and Passivhaus.

Objectives and competences

Objectives

- Control the different processes required to carry out the construction project of a sustainable building.
- To become familiar with international certifications like WELL, Passivhaus and BREEAM.
To obtain the official GREEN ASSOCIATE credential.
- To learn the design of Passivhaus and nZEB passive systems.
- To master computer tools to calculate an NZEB and the steps that must be followed in an environmental and energy-efficiency certification.
- To control the different processes required to carry out the construction project of a sustainable building.
- To become a Leed GA associate in order to be able to conduct this type of project professionally.
- To acquire a solid understanding of and effectively assess the environmental impacts of the materials used in building projects.
- To analyse how eco-labelling works and to be familiar with current regulations and how they are transposed into environmental certificates such as LEED and WELL.
- To master the methodology for calculating a carbon footprint.
- To research and become deeply familiar with strategic practices for environmental improvement.

The course is also open to students with no prior university education, who will acquire the same knowledge and skills and receive a specific qualification for their learner group. Information on the access requirements and other conditions can be obtained from the course directors.
