Objectives and competences

Through this course, the University of Barcelona Sant Joan de Déu teaching campus along with the Hospital Sant Joan de Déu Barcelona offers its experience to complement the University's educational catalogue in the field of clinical genetics. This 120 ECTS master?s degree is intended for professionals specializing in pediatrics or with other medical or healthcare specializations (physicians, biologists, pharmacists or chemists) or for students with a university master's degree (MSc) in the field of human genetics who want to steer their professional practice towards the area of clinical genetics and rare diseases. It is also suitable for participants from other medical or healthcare specializations.

Objectives

- To acquire the professional and research training to integrate advanced concepts of human and medical genetics and genomics in designing solutions to clinical problems pertaining to genetic diseases and rare conditions in the hospital setting related to both patients and their families.
- To acquire the knowledge, skills and attitudes required to attain the requisite competences to work in hospitals and health centres within the specific areas of medical genetics.

Degree and diploma holders in medicine and health sciences with specialized health training (paediatrics, internal medicine, obstetrics and gynaecology, clinical biochemistry, other medical specializations) and other university graduates in any field of health sciences and biomedicine.
