Objectives and competences

The course provides a global overview of management concepts and tools, and looks at the role and contributions of management in building excellent global health organizations and developing innovative and effective global health programs. The course combines a strategic and operational approach to management practice, with an emphasis on non-profit organizations (international agencies, governments, foundations and philanthropy, NGOs), public-private partnerships and the growing role of social enterprise.

Objectives

- To acquire an overview of basic management concepts and tools, and discuss the role and contribution of management in building excellent global health organizations and developing effective global health programmes.
-To develop a strategic and functional approach combined with effective management practice, with an emphasis on non-profit organizations, as a distinctive feature of the majority of the most relevant organizations in global health: international agencies, governments, public-private alliances, philanthropic foundations and associations and NGOs.

Access requirements and conditions

The course is also open to students with no prior university education, who will acquire the same knowledge and skills and receive a specific qualification for their learner group. Information on the access requirements and other conditions can be obtained from the course directors.
