Objectives and competences

The Gemmology course consists of two annual modules with independent registration. During their formative stage, the student must demonstrate the acquisition of theoretical and practical knowledge about precious stones or gems. As well as a correct handling of the equipment of the standard gemmology laboratory and of the scientific equipment available at the University of Barcelona, which could be used in future professional practice. Over the course of the two years, the graduate will have acquired the necessary knowledge to identify, characterize and produce technical reports and gemmological certificates, in order to enter the world of work.
