The volume of big data is growing faster in healthcare than in any other sectors. This represents an unprecedented potential to advance towards precision medicine. In this regard, an increasing workforce demand for Biomedical Data Scientist is forecasted for forthcoming years. These are data scientist with the necessary interdisciplinary mindset to handle health-related big data and create value out of it.
The official master's programme in Biomedical Data Science has been designed anticipating this demand and it is mainly aimed at providing the interdisciplinary training necessary to handle, manage, analyse, and model large-scale biomedical data.
Boosted by Bioinformatics Barcelona (BIB), the master's programme results from a joint-collective effort between seven public universities (URV, as coordinating university, UPC, UB, UAB, UdG, UdL, UVic); hospitals across the Catalan health system; and companies from the biomedical or pharma sectors. This partnership will allow delivering this program at the top-quality level.
