Introduction

The bachelor's degree in Business Administration and Management provides students with the knowledge required for the administration, management and direction of companies and public and non-governmental institutions, nationally and internationally.

The bachelor's degree in Business Administration and Management includes all the theoretical and practical training required to work in this sector. Basic Training subjects are offered in the first two years. The core contents of the learning process are delivered in compulsory subjects on accounting, economics and business environment, business organization, quantitative methods and strategic analysis. Beginning in the third year, students can choose optional subjects.  Students have the chance of carrying out an optional external placement worth up to 18 credits at a wide range of institutions and companies in many sectors.

Students wishing to receive recognition of a specialization in the European Diploma Supplement must enrol in a minimum of 30 specialization-specific credits out of the 42 optional credits.

The degree structure also makes it possible to complete a stay abroad via the university mobility programmes offered by the Faculty of Economics and Business.

Objectives

The general objectives are for students to acquire a comprehensive understanding of business management in all kinds of organizations, as well as knowledge of the way in which businesses interact with their environment in the broadest sense.

The course aims to train versatile professionals who can start their own business and also carry out a wide range of direction and management functions in business and private and public institutions.

More specifically, the following learning objectives are targeted:

To receive training in general and strategic business activity, financial, commercial, production and human resource management.

  • To acquire the capacity to direct and manage an organization.
  • To understand the interrelation between society and the economy.
  • To understand competitiveness between companies.
  • To understand the connection between product market and consumer market.
  • To understand the regulations governing the operation of companies: type of company, taxation and recruitment system.
  • To learn to use the analytical tools and technical instruments necessary for business management.
  • To acquire the strategic capacities of innovation, entrepreneurship and value creation.

Previous years

Placements

Placements in a company or another type of organization are an integral part of university studies, providing first-hand experience of working methodologies in students' chosen professional fields.They offer invaluable practical experience for the transition into work after graduation.

Placements are supervised by tutors and subject to assessment.They are therefore included in the academic record.  There is also an option to complete non-curricular placements of up to 500 hours, which can be extended to 900 hours. For both curricular and non-curricular placements, an educational cooperation agreement is signed between the UB and the company, institution or other organization at which the placement will be carried out.
