Introduction

The double degree in History and History of Art at the University of Barcelona provides students with knowledge of the most important historical and artistic processes, as well as the methods, techniques and instruments used to analyse materials, documents and artistic objects, enabling them to achieve an in-depth understanding of the methodology of both disciplines.
The double degree in History and Art History provides training in the analysis and interpretation of historical, textual, material and artistic documentation, as well as on the systems for teaching and learning about historical and artistic processes, producing professionals capable of understanding, assessing and interpreting historical, artistic and cultural heritage. Students learn to transform artistic and documentary data into quality historical-artistic knowledge. It provides a solid understanding of the theoretical and methodological contributions from other disciplines to optimize resources and improve the results of studies and research. Students learn to express themselves clearly and coherently, making use of the appropriate terminology to correctly explain the knowledge, main concepts and development of the methodology of both disciplines.

Placements

Placements in a company or another type of organization are an integral part of university studies, providing first-hand experience of working methodologies in students' chosen professional fields. They offer invaluable practical experience for the transition into work after graduation.

Placements are supervised by tutors and subject to assessment. They are therefore included in the academic record.  There is also an option to complete non-curricular placements of up to 500 hours, which can be extended to 900 hours. For both curricular and non-curricular placements, an educational cooperation agreement is signed between the UB and the company, institution or other organization at which the placement will be carried out.
