Introduction

The bachelor’s degree in Communication and the Culture Industry produces professionals who possess a basic yet broad and solid understanding of the communicative ecosystem, as well as the cultural and creative sectors, founded on the rigorous academic study of techniques and processes focused on the creation and dissemination of messages in their various phases and dimensions. It particularly addresses the interrelations between the communicative and cultural realms.
This bachelor's degree offers a cross-disciplinary and interdisciplinary training t to further both the study and practice of the main events and messages shaping the current media landscape as well as multidisciplinary knowledge of the culture industry (cinema, performing arts, the recording industry, etc.)
The program provides a well-grounded grasp of the concepts and methodologies applicable to the research areas of communication and new technological environments. It encourages the development of critical, analytical, and reflexive skills regarding the communicative phenomenon, alongside a humanistic, artistic, and technical comprehension of the forms, processes, and trends in oral, written, visual, audiovisual, and multimedia communication.
Furthermore, the degree offers a comprehensive education oriented toward effective practice, culminating in external internships and a final degree project.

Objectives

  • Provide an interdisciplinary education in the social sciences, arts, humanities, and communication technologies.
  • Foster a critical, analytical, and reflective capacity regarding the communicative phenomenon, coupled with a humanistic, artistic, and technical understanding of the forms, processes, and trends in the different types of communication (oral, written, visual, audiovisual, and multimedia).
  • Facilitate a basic and comprehensive understanding of the main events and messages that shape the current communicative and cultural landscape.
  • Offer an in-depth knowledge of the processes and techniques involved in the creation and dissemination of messages at their various stages, as well as the interrelations between the communicative and cultural domains, especially within the digital environment.
  • Introduce the concepts and methodologies applicable to the research areas of communication and new technological environments.
  • Equip individuals with the ability to express themselves clearly and coherently in the community's native language(s) and to have proficiency in other languages, particularly English, to communicate competently in their profession.

    • To plan the creation of products, projects and services in the field of the different cultural sectors and communication fields, especially with the intervention of new technological resources and technical strategies
    • Make appropriate use of the organizational, operational and creative techniques and skills required for the development of audiovisual and multimedia messages and content

Admission for students with studies completed outside Spain.

Pre-enrolment

Students that have studied abroad and who wish to study at the University of Barcelona may be admitted to EHEA bachelor's degree courses. Procedures for gaining admission will depend on the qualifications held by each applicant.

Placements

Placements are supervised by tutors and subject to assessment.They are therefore included in the academic record.  There is also an option to complete non-curricular placements of up to 500 hours, which can be extended to 900 hours. For both curricular and non-curricular placements, an educational cooperation agreement is signed between the UB and the company, institution or other organization at which the placement will be carried out.
