International students
Barcelona is our main campus area, but our roots also stretch into the wider metropolitan area and beyond to the rest of Catalonia.
We are a fundamentally metropolitan university, with seventeen faculties spread across a network of campuses: in the city centre, the Diagonal and Mundet campuses, and in near-lying towns and cities such as Santa Coloma de Gramenet, L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, Sant Joan Despí and Badalona. Our presence extends beyond Barcelona to other areas of Catalonia through collaboration with fifteen university hospitals and other research and knowledge transfer facilities.
The leading public university in Catalonia, the University of Barcelona combines its prominence as an urban, open, cosmopolitan university with its excellence in innovative teaching and research.

Find out about admission
Students from outside Spain can also access bachelor's degree studies at the University of Barcelona. The specific admission procedure is determined by the level of studies they have completed:
Students wishing to access a university master's degree must hold one of the following qualifications:
- Degree issued by a higher education institution in the EHEA that grants access to official master's degree studies in the country of issue.
- Degree issued by a higher education institution outside the EHEA. In this case students will need to apply for official recognition (homologación) of their degree as equivalent to a Spanish degree granting access to the master's degree, if specific previous studies are required. Otherwise, they will need to submit a statement of equivalence to the content and level of studies of an official Spanish degree, or request verification by the University of Barcelona that their degree is equivalent to an official Spanish degree and grants access to official master's degree studies. Successful verification of equivalence does not confer official recognition, nor does it grant recognition of equivalance for any purpose other than admission to university master's degree studies at the UB.
Specific requirements apply to students whose previous studies were completed outside Spain:
Different options are available to access UB-specific master's degrees and postgraduate courses:
- With a qualification issued by a higher education institution in the EHEA that grants access to postgraduate study in country of origin.
- With a qualification issued by a higher education institution outside the EHEA that has been officially recognized as equivalent to a Spanish university degree.
- With a qualification issued by a higher education institution outside the EHEA that has not been officially recognized as equivalent to a Spanish university degree.
Consult the full information on access and admission for students with non-EHEA qualifications.
Prospective students should also check the specific admission requirements in the "Access and admission" section of the course description for their chosen programme and contact the course directors if they have any doubts.
