VSMA: Doctoral programmes
VSMA FRAMEWORK
The VSMA framework provides the structure for the verification, monitoring, modification and accreditation of degree programmes. The framework provides an integrated view of the four quality assurance processes applied throughout the life cycle of a programme: Validation, Monitoring, Modification and Accreditation.
- Verification: This refers to the evaluation that considers aspects that accredit the solvency of the research teams involved in the research lines of the doctoral programme and the correct development of the training provided to doctoral students, leading to the award of an official university qualification, as stipulated by the guidelines and conditions established in current legislation. The programmes and qualifications are designed and proposed by each university, in line with official regulations.
- Monitoring: This refers to the preparation of a report three years after the implementation or accreditation of the programme, to assess the degree to which it remains compliant with the academic criteria and approaches detailed in the verification report. It involves a detailed diagnosis of the current status of the programme and the design of proposals for improvement that correct any inconsistencies observed between the design of the qualification and its current implementation.
- Modification: The design of proposals to modify existing programmes, in response to the findings of the monitoring or accreditation process.
- Accreditation: This refers to the preparation of a report six years after the initial implementation of the programme or its previous accreditation. It verifies that the corresponding curriculum is being carried out in accordance with the initial project, through an evaluation that must include the visit of a team of external evaluators.
