The Department

The Department was established in 2017 with the aim of integrating all studies related to History and Archaeology into a single coherent unit. It brings together specialists with diverse ideas and methods for approaching historical phenomena, enriching students’ understanding through a variety of interpretations.

Departmental sections

The Department of History and Archaeology is organized into four departmental sections that encompass all stages of the past: Prehistory and Archaeology; Ancient History and the History of America and Africa; Medieval History, Modern History, Paleography, and Diplomatics; and Contemporary History and the Present World.
These sections integrate teaching, research, and methodological rigor, contributing to the academic excellence of the department.

Teaching

While diverse in their methodologies, the studies linked to the Department share a common goal: to provide students with the knowledge and resources that enable them to understand historical processes and the societies that result from them.
Through theoretical and practical classes, specialized seminars, and archaeological fieldwork, we offer a global perspective on History and delve into past events to interpret them and better understand the present.

The numerous consolidated research groups and the promotion of international mobility enable open learning and a multidisciplinary perspective that contribute to the solid academic training of students.
