The Department’s research and teaching activity is broad and cross‑disciplinary, encompassing a wide range of approaches such as the synthesis of natural products and bioactive molecules, nanomedicine, research on processes such as aging or metabolic diseases, and toxicology. This research potential is key to generating knowledge and, at the same time, enriches students’ academic training.

La doctoranda Martalu D. Pazos, del programa de doctorat en Recerca, Desenvolupament i Control de Medicaments, serà la representant de la Universitat de Barcelona al concurs Tesis en 3 Minuts, del Grup Coïmbra. Ha estat seleccionada entre altres investigadors en un acte que ha tingut lloc aquest dilluns, 16 de març.

Department
The Department of Pharmacology, Toxicology and Therapeutic Chemistry is affiliated with the Faculty of Pharmacy and Food Sciences at the University of Barcelona. It is organized into two Departmental Sections based on the affinity of the knowledge areas that comprise it.
The Department teaches in various undergraduate programmes, also participates in third‑cycle teaching activities (PhD, postgraduate courses, master’s degrees) and carries out research within the corresponding fields.

Teaching

The academic staff of the Department of Pharmacology, Toxicology and Therapeutic Chemistry take part in the different programmes that include subjects related to their areas of expertise, at undergraduate, postgraduate, master’s and doctoral levels.
Undergraduate teaching includes the programmes offered at the Diagonal Campus of the Faculty of Pharmacy and Food Sciences (Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy), at the Torribera Food and Nutrition Campus (Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science and Technology, Bachelor’s Degree in Human Nutrition and Dietetics, and the interuniversity (UB‑UPC) Bachelor’s Degree in Culinary and Gastronomic Sciences), as well as various subjects in other degrees (Biomedical Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Biochemistry, Biotechnology). The Department also offers a wide range of specialized master's programmes in its corresponding areas of knowledge.

Research

Consult the teaching and research staff working in each area to learn more about the details of their research. In addition to research projects funded with public resources on specific topics, numerous activities are also carried out through contracts with the private sector, managed via the Bosch i Gimpera Foundation.
Moreover, many of the Department’s professors and researchers take part in other research structures, such as research institutes and national or international R&D&I networks.
