Ethics and inclusion
The ethics of inclusion in research builds trust and increases credibility.
Citizen science must conduct comprehensive research that is connected the concerns of communities and removes barriers to participation. Because it involves citizen participation as a defining factor, citizen science must be conducted completely transparently and, if possible, include traditionally excluded groups. It is essential to anonymize data to prevent the possible identification of any participants.
