The University of Barcelona improves in several areas of knowledge analysed by the World University Rankings by Subject, published by the British specialist magazine Times Higher Education. Specifically, it climbed positions in clinical and health sciences, from 76th to 73rd place in the world; in arts and humanities (from 87th to 77th place); life sciences (from 126-150 to 101-125) and psychology (from 126-150 to 101-125).

The University of Barcelona improves in several areas of knowledge analysed by the World University Rankings by Subject, published by the British specialist magazine Times Higher Education. Specifically, it climbed positions in clinical and health sciences, from 76th to 73rd place in the world; in arts and humanities (from 87th to 77th place); life sciences (from 126-150 to 101-125) and psychology (from 126-150 to 101-125).
The UB maintains its positions in the other areas of the ranking: physics (in which the UB is in the 176-200 bracket), social sciences (101-125 bracket), economics and business (301-400), law (126 -150), education (101-125) and engineering (301-400).
The UB is the state leader in five of the eleven areas established by the ranking. Specifically, it ranks first in Spain in clinical and health sciences, life sciences, physics, psychology and engineering (in the latter case, with a leadership shared with the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, Pompeu Fabra University and the Autonomous University of Madrid).
The World University Rankings by Subject uses eighteen indicators that are already used in the global World University Rankings. The weighting of each indicator, but changes in the different disciplines, in order to make a calculation more adjusted to each area of knowledge.
