From today, the University of Barcelona has a new channel to attend to media professionals: a corporate WhatsApp account. Journalists will now be able to contact the UB Press Office quickly and efficiently with queries, requests or to find experts at the University. The WhatsApp service will operate on weekdays from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, in addition to the telephone and email services already offered.

The telephone number associated with this service is the landline number of the Press Office (934 035 544). Once this number is registered in the mobile phone's address book, the WhatsApp application will automatically detect that the Press Office has an account. If you do not have the app, the other contact method is: wa.me/34934035544.

With this new service, the University of Barcelona will be able to respond quickly to queries about its current affairs and news agenda, channel requests and provide expert staff contact to media outlets that require them to prepare their news items. In addition, it should be borne in mind that the UB has the Expertesa UB (expert guide), open to information professionals, where over a thousand members of the teaching and research staff of the University can be found, classified by subject and area of expertise.

The University of Barcelona has recently completely revamped its website, with a more modern and intuitive press room, which incorporates unpublished opinions from expert UB staff on current affairs. The first contribution was by Professor of Economics Joan Tugores, on the banking crisis that began with the collapse of Silicon Valley Bank.
