Els Vespres d’Estiu return to the Historic Building
PRESS RELEASE
- The 19th edition of the concert series will be opened by the winners of the first Sona UB competition.

The line-up remains true to the essence of Els Vespres and is once again a showcase for the most unique projects on the Catalan music scene. The artists performing this summer are Reïna, Minibús Intergalàctic, Ariox and Alba Morena. The Manacor pop group Reïna will be in charge of opening the cycle with songs from their second LP, Retirada a temps; while Minibús Intergalàctic will bring Meditacions des dels Miratges Mercúrics, the first album they have just released, which Enderrock magazine has described as “an updated journey through psychedelia and the most lysergic acid-rock”. The stars of the second week of Els Vespres d’Estiu come from Cardedeu and Salou. On the one hand, the electronica of Ariox is super sad, Ariox’s first solo album; on the other, the fusion of styles of Yo te quiero pero, by Alba Morena.
The great novelty this year is that the Els Vespres concerts will be preceded by a performance by the winners of the Sona UB, a competition of demos organized for the first time by the UB to discover the musical talent of teaching staff, students and technical, management and administration and services staff. More than five hundred people from the UB community took part in the popular voting phase to decide that the guest artists at the Els Vespres d’Estiu concerts will be Erxart Casas, Bons Nois, LaiaLaia and Elo.
The public will enjoy a terrace with Moritz's van, installed in the same garden. The artistic direction of Vespres is in charge of L’Afluent, which also collaborates in the production of the cycle. The concerts are sponsored by Moritz.
Concerts:
9 July: Reïna (+ supporting band from Sona UB: Erxart Casas). The pop group from Manacor has released its second LP, Retirada a temps (Bankrobber / El Jardí Amagat), ten sharp, transparent songs that recall the sound of the best groups of the 1980s and 1990s, Fleetwood Mac and Guided by Voices.
11 July: Minibús Intergalàctic (+ supporting band from Sona UB: Bons Nois). They draw on the tradition of folk, pop and rock sounds with psychedelic influences from the 1960s and 1970s to pour out everything that moves them: a lively, joyful and hedonistic outlook on a confused world in crisis.
16 July: Ariox (+ supporting band from Sona UB: Laialaia). The artist from Cardedeu presents her long-awaited first album, Ariox is super sad (Luup Records), a fresh and intimate work that fuses signature pop with electronica, and music with other disciplines such as writing, drawing and illustration.
18 July: Alba Morena (+ supporting band from Sona UB: Elo). Her music draws from many sources. She creates minimalist electronic pop gems from his knowledge of classical violin, lyrical singing, jazz and, above all, flamenco.
