On Monday 10 June, the University of Experience opened the enrolment for the 2024-2025 academic year, offering a wide range of educational programmes designed for people over the age of fifty-five. The enrolment period will run from 10 June to 14 July, with a possible extension until 30 September if necessary.
At the presentation of the campaign, the rector’s delegate for the University of Experience and professor at the Faculty of Geography and History, Carles Buenacasa, highlighted the diversification and expansion of the teaching offer, which maintains the university programmes and has significantly increased the number of seminars. This structure is organised into three main blocks: university programmes, in-depth seminars and complementary activities.
- University Programmes: These courses, lasting from one to three years, consist of four subjects per year and are held in the faculties of the University of Barcelona. This year, the number of university programmes remains at twenty, with a notable new feature: the programme “Challenges and opportunities of educating in the 21st century”, which includes sixteen subjects focused on contemporary education.
- Seminars: These courses, of one or two semesters, allow for in-depth study of specific aspects related to the university programmes. The number of seminars on offer has been increased to a total of forty-six, reflecting an increase of thirteen new seminars for the next academic year.
- Complementary Activities: These activities, which include theatre, vocal, yoga and chi kung workshops, among others, are designed to encourage an active and healthy life both physically and intellectually. This year, the eight existing complementary activities will be maintained.
Continued Growth and Success
Since the University of Experience was created in 2010, it has seen a steady growth in enrolment, with the only exception during the 2020 pandemic. In the current academic year, the university programmes have 2,178 students (92% employment), while the seminars and complementary activities have 746 participants (67% employment).
Enrolment and Pre-enrolment Processes
From 10 June, current students can enrol in the second and third year courses of the university programmes. For new students wishing to enter the first year, pre-registration will be required between 25 and 30 June, due to limited availability of places.
Enrolment for seminars and complementary activities will open directly from 17 June. All these processes will be done online through the official website of the University of Experience, experiencia.ub.edu, where you can find all the detailed information about the available courses.
With this new training offer, the University of Experience reaffirms its commitment to continuing education and the personal development of its community, offering learning and growth opportunities in an enriching academic environment.
