The University of Barcelona becomes a key academic partner of the Bank of Spain

The rector of the University of Barcelona, Joan Guàrdia, and the governor of the Bank of Spain, José Luis Escrivá, signed a framework agreement to foster collaboration between the two institutions in the field of financial education. The agreement seals a strategic alliance that makes the UB a key academic partner of the Bank of Spain in Catalonia. The ceremony took place in the Gaspar Rosselló board room of the UB’s Historic Building.

The rector of the University of Barcelona, Joan Guàrdia, and the governor of the Bank of Spain, José Luis Escrivá, signed a framework agreement to foster collaboration between the two institutions in the field of financial education. The agreement seals a strategic alliance that makes the UB a key academic partner of the Bank of Spain in Catalonia. The ceremony took place in the Gaspar Rosselló board room of the UB’s Historic Building.
Based on this framework agreement, specific lines of action will be developed to generate academic synergies and design training content. The two institutions will promote a stable programme of institutional collaboration activities in the field of banking, its functions, competences and strategic lines. Initiatives will also be developed to progressively incorporate financial education into the UB’s teaching activities through the training of teaching staff in the most advanced methodology in this field.
The UB will take part in research projects developed by the Bank of Spain aimed at measuring and monitoring the educational programmes implemented jointly.
The rector of the UB, Joan Guàrdia, expressed his satisfaction with the agreement: “The Bank of Spain is the ideal partner for putting all the knowledge generated at the UB at the service of financial education. We are embarking on this venture confident of its success, as we are bringing together the efforts of two key institutions at the national level.”
The Governor of the Bank of Spain, José Luis Escrivá, stated that “this agreement offers an opportunity to strengthen the Bank of Spain’s financial education strategy in Catalonia through a leading university partner, with whom we already have a proven history of positive collaboration.”
