A “video game” welcome

The University of Barcelona will offer an unforgettable welcome to its new students with an action focused on the evolution of video games. The #BenvingudaUB, which will take place from 16 to 19 September, will show an overview of different moments in the history of video games, from the emblematic arcade machines to the popular video game League of Legends (LOL). The aim of this initiative is to create a welcoming and dynamic atmosphere that fosters a sense of belonging to the university community.

The University of Barcelona will offer an unforgettable welcome to its new students with an action focused on the evolution of video games. The #BenvingudaUB, which will take place from 16 to 19 September, will show an overview of different moments in the history of video games, from the emblematic arcade machines to the popular video game League of Legends (LOL). The aim of this initiative is to create a welcoming and dynamic atmosphere that fosters a sense of belonging to the university community.

During the four days of the event, students will be able to enjoy an interactive and immersive journey, with activities designed to encourage their participation. There will be classic arcade games and a photocall with cosplayers recreating iconic characters from LOL. Participants will also be able to win prizes of UB merchandising, vouchers and T-shirts for the next gaming fair SAGA Saló del Gaming.

In addition, this welcome event is linked to the start of the UB Alma Mater tournament, the first inter-university e-sports competition, which will include a League of Legends tournament, and which will attract fans of the world of video games and e-sports.

From 16 to 19 September, the University of Barcelona welcomes the new students with an action dedicated to the history of video games.

These activities will take place at different locations on UB campuses from 12.00 noon to 4.00 p.m.:

- Monday 16 September: Faculty of Biology (main vestibule of the Margalef building), Faculty of Earth Sciences (main vestibule), Faculties of Physics and Chemistry (terrace of the Solar Atrium) and Faculty of Fine Arts (main vestibule).

- Tuesday 17 September: Faculty of Law (main vestibule), Torribera Campus (Gramenet building), Faculty of Economics and Business (main vestibule in building 696) and Faculty of Pharmacy and Food Sciences (outside the library vestibule).

- Wednesday 18 September: Faculty of Geography and History (vestibule), faculties of Philology and Communication and Mathematics and Computer Science (garden of the Historic Building) and Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Clinical Campus (vestibule).

- Thursday, 19 September: Faculties of Education and Psychology (Llevant building), Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Bellvitge campus (vestibule and the Secretary’s Office for Students and Teaching) and Faculty of Information and Audiovisual Media (ground floor).

This event aims not only to provide fun and competition, but also to create a space for members of the university community to connect. The popularity of video games in today’s society, with a large fan base, provides an excellent opportunity for interaction between students from different faculties and interests.
