The agreement establishes the cession of the Animated Science project to RTVE to include these dissemination videos in the list of programs that -in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Professional Training- have been carried out to broadcast during the state of alarm announced by the Spanish Government. Such programming seeks to offer quality educational resources for the young population during the lockdown.
Animated Science includes five videos with scientific content which explain scientific concepts in a visual and playful way. Each episode starts with the definition of a key concept selected by UB experts who collaborate in the project. Then, a visual treatment and script are prepared. The script is drawn, animated, given sound and adapted into three languages (Catalan, Spanish and English). On Friday, April 17, the first videos were broadcasted: Shades, which explains how the position of the sun impacts the direction of shadows. On April 24, they broadcasted Nutrition, which treats the topic of nutrition and the importance of a balanced diet. The other episodes will be broadcasted on Fridays from 9 to 10 a.m. This is how children will discover The scientific method, Sustainable tourism, and the Periodic table.
Animated Science is a project from the Scientific Culture and Innovation Unit (UCC+i) of the UB, and counts on the advice of a group of researchers who make sure each episode scientific content is rigorous, and receives the support from the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities - Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology, institution that connected RTVE and the UB.
