The University of Barcelona, in close collaboration with CP Proximity, publishes the White Paper on the social networks used by the UB. It is aimed at the largest online university community in Spain and it represents another step in the project of this University to continue being a leading university and an example in social networks.

The White Paper describes the strategies, objectives and the way the social networks used by the UB should be managed in order to meet the growing university studentsʼ demand for these communicative tools. The different social networks that this University already uses have over 65,000 followers, a figure that stresses the importance to write this White Paper.

97.7% of young people who start university are members of some social network. This figure is an indicator of the importance these tools have, which are no longer mere complements to traditional ways of conveying information but highly important communicative tools.

The UB has developed a plan in accordance with the requirements of the current university community with increasingly broader technological knowledge, while respecting the institutionʼs 500-year-old tradition. The publication of the White Paper is a step towards updating the social networks used by the University, which earlier this year had already implemented changes in the image and structure of its online community.

The UB is one of the leading universities in Europe. According to the ranking made by QS World University Rankings, the University of Barcelona is placed among the 150 best universities in the world, and it is the Spanish leading university.
