The Report on the academic year 2017/2018, just published, shows the most outstanding activities and main data of the institution over the last academic year. This year, the report adds a new chapter titled “The University of Barcelona, today”, which explains the traits that describe the identity of the University of Barcelona and provides the main strengths that shape the institution.
How is the UB? According to this first chapter, these are the concepts that define the University: public, general and multidisciplinary, intensive in research, centenary and urban, socially committed, international, distinguished, with quality teaching, entrepreneur and innovative, and with a good governance and transparency.
It later gathers the chapters “La Universitat projectada a la societat”, which describes initiatives linked to transparency, ethics, sustainability and good governance, as well as institutional and cultural activities; “La Universitat líder en formació”, which lists the academic offering and teaching support services; “La Universitat capdavantera en recerca”, which analyses the activity of research and transfer of technology, knowledge and innovation, and “Una Universitat international” which is focused on the international institutional activity and mobility of different university collectives.
This yearʼs edition continues with the design line of previous years, including new photographic elements. Like in previous reports, each chapter has opinions by members of the different collectives that form the university community on topics from their fields. It also includes extracts from articles published in the media that refer to the reviewed activities. The report is completed with a website to read more statistical information on the university.
The publication has been carried out by the Technical Bureau at the Rectorʼs Office and has been edited by Editions and Publications of the University of Barcelona. The Catalan version will have a print run of 220 copies to be distributed around the University and in several bodies and institutions related to high education in Catalonia. Like last year, the Spanish and English editions will only be available online and are expected to be available over the upcoming weeks.
