The program Connecta UB guarantees distance learning access
The University of Barcelona launches its program Connecta UB to guarantee equal opportunities for the students during the second semester of this academic year, due to the suspension of face-to-face teaching lessons due to the health crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
This extraordinary aid call will lessen the digital gap, by easing the temporary use of laptops and access to Internet for those students with economic problems who do not have the necessary technological tools to continue with their online academic activities.
There are three types of aids according to the needs: the loan of a laptop for temporal uses, basic access to Internet, and both at the same time. This plan is aimed at those students enrolled in bachelor and master degrees in a UB-specific centre, provided they have one of the following grants: general grant (Ministry), beca equitat in tram 1 (AGAUR) or BkUB (modality A).
Applications should be carried out from April 16 to April 21 via an online form in the website of the University of Barcelona, where the resolution will be published as soon as possible. The ceding of the equipment will end when the UB decides such situation of need reaches its end.
The initial amount assigned to this program by the UB accounts for 100,000 euros. Moreover, this call is open to collaboration with companies, institutions and particulars that wish to contribute, through crowdfunding, to extend the financial aid (bank account: ES17 2100 3642 1722 0016 2234; subject: “Programa ConnectaUB”).
