The Government of Catalonia nominated Laura Borràs for the presidency of the Institute of Catalan Letters
The Government of Catalonia has nominated today, Tuesday 15th January, the professor from the Department of Teacher Training in Language and Literature of the UB Laura Borràs as the new president of the Institute of Catalan Letters (ILC). She replaces Oriol Izquierdo, who led the institution for six years. Last week, the media was made public the replacing proposal made by the Catalan minister Ferran Mascarell who remarked “her wide knowledge of Catalan literature, she is an expert on the history of literature as well as on the contemporary one” and “the quality of her management ability” as the organization of the Sales, Calders and Tísner centenaries developed by her in 2012 proves.

Laura Borràs holds a degree in Catalan and a PhD in Romance Languages. She has been professor of Theory of Literature at the UB for about twenty years, and she has been the director of the masterʼs in Literature in the Digital Age of the UB for six editions. Expert on digital literature dissemination, she has headed the multidisciplinary research group on digital literature Hermeneia since 2000. Now, she will perform this task from the ILC, so she will be able to foster the projection of Catalan literary heritage on a worldwide scale.
