The entire university community can participate in the new phase of drafting the future UB Statute. From 20 March until 25 April, students, the PDI and the PTGAS can submit proposals and comments on the draft text via the digital platform Participa UB.

The drafting of the new UB Statute has now completed its first two phases. In the first phase, “Where we are and where we want to go”, the core ideas and contents of the new Statute were identified through a collaborative debate with representatives of the three university collectives, the seventeen faculties and other structures, members of the UB Group and the UB’s social partners. The second phase was “Building foundations”, in which the drafting committee, partly chosen by the Senate and partly appointed by the Rector, drew up a first draft of the text, which is now being presented.

In the current phase, under the name “Every Word Matters”, the entire student body and staff of the UB can make contributions. Once finalized, the drafting committee will analyse the proposals and comments received and generate a second draft, which will be presented to the different university bodies and subsequently submitted to the University Senate, in accordance with the regulatory approval process.

The Statute is the University’s own higher regulation. It must therefore incorporate the values and principles that identify it, the University’s aims, the core aspects of the University community, and the parameters of the structures and governance that express University autonomy and accountability. The aim was to draw up a first proposal that conceives the Statute of the UB as a flexible and open regulation that responds to current needs and protects the strategies of the future.
