No Smoke Week: zero emissions in your lungs too
Throughout the week, various actions will be offered in different areas of the University to promote health and wellbeing. Among other initiatives, the programme includes free consultations with professionals from the medical service to assess the state of health of those interested and their degree of tobacco dependence.
Along the same lines, UB Sports will be offering training sessions to improve cardiorespiratory capacity, as well as excursions in natural areas. Healthy moments with mindfulness have also been programmed to relieve tension and improve concentration. An information stand will also be set up on the Bellvitge Campus, where carboxymetry (a breathing test that measures carbon monoxide in expired air) will be carried out and practical advice will be given on how to stop smoking.
No Smoke week is held to mark World No Tobacco Day on 31 May. In Catalonia, the initiative is coordinated by SumaSalut, a project that integrates physical activity, smoking and alcohol programmes. The slogan for this fifth edition is “Zero emissions in your lungs too”.
