Transition in the Student Council Secretariat

The Standing Committee of the Student Council has elected Hug Sala and Yaiza Moreno to serve as secretary and deputy secretary of this body. During the first half of the term, Sala will serve as secretary and Moreno as deputy secretary, with the two switching roles in the second half. The aim is for both to work together in the Secretariat.
Yaiza Moreno, a student of the doctoral programme in Law and Political Science, says that the responsibility of the position “requires hard work, but above all consistency with the values of the UB: a way of working based on democracy and the pursuit of the common good”. As for the Student Council’s upcoming priorities, she says that “they should be, on the one hand, to promote student involvement and participation in all areas of university activity and, on the other, to develop new organizational regulations adapted to the new UB Statute”.
Hug Sala, a physics student, explains: “We are in a special situation. The new University Statute has been approved, and now it needs to be implemented.” He adds that “there are also many deadlines coming up, such as the drafting of the new Student Organization Regulations.” “That is why we have opted for a new formula, a rotating secretariat to optimize the functioning and standardize the composition of the Student Council.” “On top of that, we need to raise the profile of this body,” he concludes.
