Science Week is back
The 23rd Science Week (SCʼ18) began on November 9, and it will last until Sunday. The main theme of this edition is the figure of Pompeu Fabra and his work, on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the birth of the Catalan linguist and grammarian. The other themes of the week are cultural heritage, commemorating the European Year of Cultural Heritage, promoted by the European Union, and the figure of the North American physicist Richard Feynman.

"Com viure més i millor: la dieta mediterrània"

The Torribera Mediterranean Center (TMC, University of Barcelona - The Culinary Institute of America) organizes the conference “Com viure més i millor: la dieta mediterrània”, by Ramon Estruch, director of the TMC Scientific Council. The activity will be introduced by M. Carme Vidal, acting director of the Food and Nutrition Torribera Campus of the UB, and Marta Vila, executive director of TMC. This conference is part of the activities the city council of Santa Coloma de Gramenet organizes in the Science Week.
XXXIV Mushroom exhibition

Like every year, the Catalan Society of Mycology, the Department Section of Botany of the Faculty of Pharmacy and Food Sciences and the Plant Biodiversity Resource Centre (CRAI) of the UB organize a new mushroom exhibition.

4th INSA-UB Annual Workshop

The Research Institute of Nutrition and Food Safety (INSA-UB) organizes the 4th INSA-UB Annual Workshop, which intends to become a meeting point for INSA-UB members and other researchers from the scientific community regarding a central topic that will be treated in a cross-sectional and multidisplinary way. This time the object of study will be wine and cava.
"Com i què són els fractals? Per què són tan comuns a la natura?"

“Com i què són els fractals? Per què són tan comuns a la natura?” is a workshop-lecture, by Anna M. Benini, lecturer of Mathematics, aimed at upper secondary school students. Benini will talk about simple fractal forms that can be built in mathematics, and will compare them to those found in nature, trying to understand why these were successful in the evolution and why they are used in the current digital graphic world.

Jordi Díaz, expert from the Scientific and Technological Centers of the UB, will talk about Richard Feynman, the charismatic scientist whose birth centenary is held this year. Lecture within the program Pessics de Ciència.
“La recerca en conservació des de la visió del conservador-restaurador III”
November 16, 4 p.m. - 7.30 p.m., Faculty of Fine Arts
"La recerca en conservació des de la visió del conservador-restaurador III" is an activity that will show the most innovative research on conservation and restoration carried out by UB researchers, coinciding with the European Year of Cultural Heritage, one of the lines of the Science Week.
