The Faculty of Law has opened its wellness room, an initiative promoted by the Office of the Vice-Rector for Equality, Inclusion and Gender. This initiative aims to promote work-life balance and wellbeing within the university community, an action included in the Equality Plan.
Located in the first floor of the Ilerdense building, the wellness room is a space of about 12 square metres. It has serves multiple purposes, all related to care and wellbeing: one can breastfeed a baby and express and store milk, as well as inject medications — such as insulin in the case of people with diabetes, or hormones, among others —. It is also a place to rest, for those people who are feeling unwell. The room is for all the university community: students, research and teaching staff (PDI) and technical, management, and administrative and service staff (PTGAS). The room is equipped with a comfortable chair for breastfeeding or resting, a refrigerator, a microwave, a changing table, a couple of extra chairs and a small table.
The wellness room at the Faculty of Law joins those already in operation at the Clínic Campus and the Bellvitge Campus of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, at the Faculty of Information and Audiovisual Media and at the Faculty of Physics, the latter being provisional. Wellness rooms will be set up in the other faculties this year.
