Ricardo Piqueras, rectorʼs Deputy for Teaching Personnelʼs Policies until now, takes office as Vice-Rector for the Teaching Staff of the University of Barcelona, after Manel Viladevallʼs (Professor of Mineralogy, Petrology and Applied Geology) resignation. Piqueras will take office today, June 7, in the boardroom of the Rectorʼs office.

Ricardo Piqueras, rectorʼs Deputy for Teaching Personnelʼs Policies until now, takes office as Vice-Rector for the Teaching Staff of the University of Barcelona, after Manel Viladevallʼs (Professor of Mineralogy, Petrology and Applied Geology) resignation. Piqueras will take office today, June 7, in the boardroom of the Rectorʼs office.

The rector of the University of Barcelona, Dídac Ramírez, thanked Doctor Viladevall for his commitment and work he carried out leading the Teaching Staff over more than six years, added to the year he worked as commissioner for Sustainability.

 

Piqueras, tenured lecturer of History and Archaeology at the University of Barcelona since 2001, holds a degree in Geography and History, a Doctorate in History of America and coursed the Masterʼs degree in University Policy and Management at the University of Barcelona. He majored in History of Colonial America, and is Head of Studies of the bachelor degree in History, and member of the Asociación Española de Americanistas (Spanish Association of Americanists) and of the Doctoral Senate of the University of Barcelona. He taught in the California-Illinois study program at the University of Barcelona and has made several research stays in Brazil, Panama and Dominican Republic. Furthermore, he has published several monographs and articles on his major studies.
