The university residence hall of the Bellvitge Campus will come into operation at the beginning of the academic year 2025-2026

The building, which will have a capacity of 192 rooms and 206 residents, covers 7,296 square metres and consists of a basement, a ground floor and eight additional floors. It will be equipped with a multitude of services to guarantee the well-being and comfort of the students: cafeteria, showcooking, gymnasium, study rooms and other leisure areas.
The Rector of the UB, Joan Guàrdia, said today that “this project is extraordinarily important for the University of Barcelona: as an institution, we have a long tradition in halls of residence and university residences. This new project is the result of a collective effort between the University and the City Council of L'Hospitalet, and will complete an offer that the Campus did not have to date, that of accommodation”.
The planned investment for the construction of the residence hall is fifteen million euros, an amount that the concessionaire is contributing in its entirety. The construction company is Arcadi Pla, SA, and BCA will be in charge of construction management. The hall of residence will operate under an administrative concession: it is owned by the UB, but will be managed by an external company. This facility completes the UB’s own accommodation offer, which includes the Penyafort-Montserrat halls of residence and the Dolors Aleu hall of residence.
New impetus for the UB Bellvitge Campus
According to data from the 2023-2024 academic year, the Bellvitge Campus has 3,063 undergraduate, master’s and doctoral students, 82% of whom are women. They study the degrees of Nursing, Medicine, Biomedical Sciences, Dentistry and Podiatry. In terms of teaching and research staff (PDI) and technical management, administration and services staff (PTGAS), the Campus has 939 and 104 members, respectively.
The new university residence hall will be a great boost for the Campus, as it will provide accommodation for all the students who are studying there, and will further strengthen the project of the Biocluster of Innovation and Health, which the centre has in the Bellvitge health hub.
