Unirun 2026 exceeds 2,100 registrations at the University of Barcelona, consolidating itself as a mass participation race in the Parc del Fòrum

Unirun 2026 has already reached 2,121 registrations linked to the University of Barcelona, a figure that far exceeds initial forecasts and places the UB community in a moment of high mobilization with weeks still to go before the race, scheduled for 1 March in the Parc del Fòrum. This early turnout consolidates the university community’s confidence in the event and continues the growth trend that was already evident in the previous edition.

In 2025, the UB marked a turning point in Unirun, with 1,886 people registered, the highest number among all participating universities. This record placed the UB at the top of the institutional rankings and demonstrated a capacity to attract participants that, far from diminishing, has intensified in the current edition, in which the threshold of 2,000 participants was exceeded months before the race.
The 2026 registration data shows that the UB’s presence in Unirun is distributed diversely among faculties and centres, with particularly significant participation in certain academic fields. Medicine and Health Sciences leads the way with 323 runners, followed by Economics and Business, with 270, and Biology, with 183. Pharmacy and Food Sciences also show notable figures, with 170 participants, and Education, with 158 participants. These figures show the sustained involvement of groups from these fields in the race.
In terms of gender participation, the 2025 edition already showed a majority of women among UB participants, with 62.30% of women and 37.70% men. This pattern, which reflects broad and diverse participation, is also maintained in the current edition, according to the overall registration data available so far.
Unirun has thus established itself as a landmark event in Catalan university sport and reaffirms the UB as one of the main driving forces behind the race, capable of bringing together sport, institutional identity and university life in a shared space that goes beyond everyday academic activity.
