Courses for everyone
As usual, with the aim of offering courses for everyone, this yearʼs program includes many new activities, such as the course Filosofies i polítiques de la vida, coordinated by the lecturer Laura Llevadot, which will cover the questions of life with late 20th century and early 21st century contemporary authors, such as Foucault, Derrida, Deleuze and Agamben; or the course Filòlegs i sociolingüistes, detectius de les paraules, coordinated by Cristina Illamola, which will offer an approach to sociolinguistics and will study one of the fields in which sociolinguistics are widely used: forensic linguistics.
Science is also present in the courses, such as Els ritmes biologics: la dansa de la vida, which will show the students the main biological rhythms in our body and how these are led by an internal clock; Un relat sobre el coneixement de la Terra, which aims to show how we reached the current knowledge of some aspects of our planet, or Aliments i cervell, a course analysing the bidirectional relation between food, nutrition, gastronomy and mental health.
Moreover, coinciding with the ephemerid of the May events in 1968, this year, there are two courses on this topic: 1968: relat historic dʼun any viscut perillosament and 1968: quan empal·lidí el vermell de les senyeres.
Also, the most successful courses from other editions will be present in this yearʼs edition as well. These are Introducció a les ciències forenses, which aims to show the basic concepts of forensic sciences and debate on a series of cases to show the main resolution methods, as well as basic data on legal action. Another example is Mirades sobre lʼabordatge del maltractament infantil, a theory and practical course to know and analyse the different situations of suspiciousness and certainty when it comes to children abuse. Guidelines and technical criteria will be provided as well as detection and intervention tools to tackle these situations, and different experiences from different fields of action, services and professionals will be presented.
Discounts and economic aids
Apart from offering a reduced fee for those registrations before May 31 for the 20-horu courses, the UB group and others (such as La Vanguardia or Núvol subscribers), can use a special discount in any of the courses until the end of the registration period. The students, in addition, can validate two academic credits for each 20-hour course.
The University of Barcelona offers thirty aids to join a 20-hour course in Els Juliols 2018 thanks to its collaboration with the company ACCIONA. These aids are aimed at bachelor, master or doctoral degree students who are registered in the University of Barcelona during the academic year 2017/2018, and the discount accounts for a reduction of 74,50 euros in the registration fee.
