The University of Barcelona recognizes the “contribution to the improvement of the institution" of emeritus teaching staff

Today, the University of Barcelona’s Historic Building Paranymph Hall witnessed the recognition of the institution’s emeritus teaching and research staff. During the ceremony, presided over by the rector of the UB, Joan Guàrdia, those present were presented with an insignia for “making a significant contribution to making our institution today the leading institution in Spain and one of the most outstanding in Europe", in the words of the rector. A total of 74 emeritus teaching and research staff members were honoured.

Today, the University of Barcelona’s Historic Building Paranymph Hall witnessed the recognition of the institution’s emeritus teaching and research staff. During the ceremony, presided over by the rector of the UB, Joan Guàrdia, those present were presented with an insignia for “making a significant contribution to making our institution today the leading institution in Spain and one of the most outstanding in Europe", in the words of the rector. A total of 74 emeritus teaching and research staff members were honoured.
Guàrdia ha remarcat la profunda transformació que ha viscut la universitat en 40 anys i ha alertat sobre les amenaces que envolten el model públic d’universitats. “Dedicar-nos a la universitat és més que una feina, és una manera de viure i no té data de caducitat”, ha assenyalat. El rector ha demanat als emèrits que “portin amb orgull el fet de ser Universitat de Barcelona”.
Per la seva banda, el vicerector de Personal Docent i Investigador, Ernest Abadal, ha fet un breu repàs històric pels canvis que s’han produït en política de professorat en els darrers 40 anys i ha agraït als presents el seu esforç i dedicació a la UB.
