The University of Barcelona climbs the rankings and maintains its national leadership in the World University Rankings

The University of Barcelona remains Spain’s top university in the World University Rankings published by the British journal Times Higher Education. The UB has climbed four places to reach 145th position among the more than 2,000 institutions evaluated worldwide.

The University of Barcelona remains Spain’s top university in the World University Rankings published by the British journal Times Higher Education. The UB has climbed four places to reach 145th position among the more than 2,000 institutions evaluated worldwide.
Regarding the conceptual pillars on which the different ranking indicators are grouped, the UB obtained the highest score in research quality, with 88.5 points and 140th position worldwide. In this area of research, it stands out in aspects such as citation impact, research strength, research excellence and research influence. The UB also excels in the industry category, with a score of 92.4, highlighting the number of patents and the income derived from them. In the area of teaching, it achieves good results in indicators linked to doctoral studies, such as the doctoral students-to-professors ratio, and, at the international level, the international students indicator.
The Spanish universities that follow the UB are the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and Pompeu Fabra University (ranked 183rd and 187th, respectively).
The University of Oxford leads the Times Higher Education ranking as the best in the world. It is followed by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Princeton University.
