Professor Ramon Gomis honoured with the Cross of Sant Jordi of the Government of Catalonia

The Government of Catalonia agreed to confer the Cross of Sant Jordi on 25 personalities and 15 institutions. The professor from the Department of Medicine of the UB Ramon Gomis has been honoured. Award-winners are honoured for the services they have rendered to Catalonia to defend its identity and in the field of culture.

The Government of Catalonia agreed to confer the Cross of Sant Jordi on 25 personalities and 15 institutions. The professor from the Department of Medicine of the UB Ramon Gomis has been honoured. Award-winners are honoured for the services they have rendered to Catalonia to defend its identity and in the field of culture.
Dr Gomis is endocrinologist at the Hospital Clínic of Barcelona and professor of Endocrinology at the UB. Moreover, he is the director of the August Pi i Sunyer Biomedical Research Institute (IDIBAPS), affiliated centre with the HUBc, the health campus of the UB, and the scientific director of the Biomedical Research Centre in Diabetes and Associated Metabolic Disorders (CIBERDEM).
The award, conferred to honour his scientific career and his results on diabetes research, also honours his literary activity, particularly recognised in theatre. He has published several titles in prose, such as the biography El Gabriel Ferrater de Reus (1998).
Another award-winner is Josep Raimon Prous Cosh, biochemist and businessman, who has stood out as international innovator in the field of biomedical information, by means of the company Prous Science and the Prous Institute for Biomedical Research, located at the Barcelona Science Park, affiliated centre with the campus of international excellence BKC.
