On April 4, the Board of the Royal Academy of Medicine of Catalonia (RAMC) appointed as new president Josep Antoni Bombí, professor of Pathological Anatomy from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences of the UB.

On April 4, the Board of the Royal Academy of Medicine of Catalonia (RAMC) appointed as new president Josep Antoni Bombí, professor of Pathological Anatomy from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences of the UB.

Josep Antoni Bombí (1984) is the head of the Department of Basic Clinical Practice of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, senior consultant of the Hospital Clínic de Barcelona and member of the Research Group of Human and Experimental Functional Oncomorphology of IDIBAPS. He develops his professional, training and research activity in electronic microscopy and gastrointestinal pathology, fields on which he expertized. Graduated in Hospital and Health Service Management at the UB, he is a numerary member of the RAMC since 2005. He is also member of the Governing Council of the UB and the Consortium of Hospital Clínic, and member of the Senate of the University of Barcelona since 1985.

He was the dean of the former Faculty of Medicine of the UB (1995-2001) and chaired the Academy of Medical Sciences of Catalonia and the Balearics (2002-2011), the Dean Conference of Spanish Faculties of Medicine (2000-2001), the Consell Català dʼEspecialitats en Ciències de la Salut (Catalan Council on Health Sciences Branches, 2005-2009) and the Executive Council of the BioPol Consortium in Hospitalet de Llobregat (2011-2013). He made several temporary stays abroad, in Germany, Switzerland, Paris, New York and the University and Hospital of Sherbrooke (Canada). He has participated in fifteen national research projects -as main researcher or adjunct researcher- and in eight educational projects of the UB, apart from being member of an educational innovation group. He has published two books, twenty-three book chapters and more than two hundred articles in national and international journals, some of which have a high prestige in his fields.
