Roger Miras and Laura Boj.

Cardemcat is presented by three students from the UB’s Faculty of Philology and Communication: Laura Boj, Xènia Hernández and Roger Miras. In the first episode, they reflect on the normative use of language and the need for “joy”, arguing that “slang is rebellious and necessary”. As well as presenting themselves and their project, the students talk to Gerard Viladomat, a graduate in Catalan from the UB and author of the book Petem-ho, a guide to contemporary Catalan slang. New episodes of Cardemcat will be released monthly.

The project won the 1st Maria Sabater Videopodcast Competition, a UB initiative that takes its name from the first Ràdio Barcelona presenter, a pioneering figure in Spanish radio broadcasting. The project seeks to promote the independent creation of student content and is open to all bachelor’s degree, master’s degree and postgraduate students at the UB.

Cardemcat is coordinated by three students from the Faculty of Philology and Communication at the University of Barcelona. Laura Boj, Xènia Hernández and Roger Miras.

Cardemcat, sex without taboos

In an area of language dominated by anglicisms and Spanish expressions, this videopodcast provides a forum for learning about and enjoying the dialectic diversity of Catalan and its many popular sayings and idioms. Placing a special emphasis on the experiences of real people, the different episodes of the podcast will address important themes such as sexual diversity, sexuality at all ages, and philias and paraphilias (unusual and atypical forms of sexual attraction), as well as dealing with other subjects related to these themes.
