Yesterday, Monday 16 February, the Antiga Fàbrica Damm hosted the presentation of Unirun 2026, an event that brought together representatives from Catalan universities and the race organizers. The event confirmed that this year’s race, whose ambassador is former olympic artistic swimmer Abril Conesa,  has reached 7,000 registered participants.

These figures establish the 2026 edition as the largest one in the event’s history and reflect the race’s sustained growth. The previous edition had 6,000 participants, while previous editions were had 5,000. Moreover, registration sold out in 19 days, confirming the growing interest in Unirun. During the presentation, the event was reaffirmed as an initiative that brings together sports, university identity and community, with an already well-established institutional dimension.

The presentation also included a symbolic ceremony in which the rectors collected the race T-shirt. Joan Guàrdia received the T-shirt featuring the colours and the logo of the UB, which plays a prominent role in the race with 2,120 registered participants. Specifically, 1,1761 UB students, 179 alumni, 104 PDI and PTGAS members, and 76 supporters had signed up. The data also show that the 12th edition of the Unirun has a predominantly young and female profile: 83.47% of participants are under 25 years old, and 53.70% are women.

The UB will also play a central role in the Runner’s Fair, which will be held in the vestibule of the Historic Building on 27 and 28 February, from 10.00 a.m. to 8.00 p.m. In this space, the 7,000 participants will collect their race numbers and T-shirts, in an initiative promoted by the UB Sports Service as part of the programme of events for the 575th anniversary. Over the next few days, the UB will become a meeting point for the university community and an institutional showcase for thousands of runners.

Unirun 2026 consolidates a trajectory of growth and integrates sport into the broader narrative of a university with 575 years of history.
