The University of Barcelona announces the fourth edition of the Antoni M. Badia i Margarit Awards to the best theses in Catalan, with the aim of contributing to the promotion of research studies written in Catalan. The awards are divided into four categories: best thesis in Catalan in the humanities and social sciences; best thesis in Catalan in the experimental and health sciences; best thesis in Catalan on gender equality and other sustainable development goals (SDGs), and best action in Catalan to disseminate the doctoral thesis.

Those Catalan-written papers that have obtained an excellent cum laude and have been submitted to the UB Digital Repository are eligible for this award. Applications can be submitted until 20 December 2024.

The winning theses will receive a prize of 1,600 euros, and the jury may award two honourable mentions in each category. The resolution will be published on the UB’s Electronic Office in February 2025.

The Antoni M. Badia i Margarit Awards were created in 2021 as an initiative by the Office of the Vice-Rector for Doctoral Studies and Trainee Research Staff, with the aim of promoting research studies and the writing of theses in Catalan. The name of the awards pays tribute to the former rector of the University of Barcelona and an outstanding linguist.
