From 1 to 5 May, Barcelona is holding the 12th edition of the physics international competition Physics League Across Numerous Countries for Kick-Ass Students (PLANCKS), which gathers bachelor and master degree students from all over the world. One of the places for this event — which aims, once again this year, to foster international collaboration and create lasting connections between participants — will be the University of Barcelona: it will host the welcome ceremony for participants on Thursday 1 May, and the closing ceremony and awards ceremony on Monday 5 May.

La competició consisteix a respondre, en grups de tres o quatre estudiants, preguntes desafiadores de diversos camps de la física (per exemple, sobre física de partícules, glaceres o skyrmions). Els problemes els plantegen professors i busquen desafiar i entretenir els competidors. L’esdeveniment, però, és molt més que un examen: ofereix als concursants un programa ple d’activitats socials, científiques i culturals per tal d’estimular el seu desenvolupament personal. A més, el programa inclou una conferència de la premi Nobel de física Anne L’Huiller, al Museu de la Ciència CosmoCaixa.
L’organització de Plancks 2025 ha estat a càrrec del Grup d’Estudiants de la Reial Societat Espanyola de Física (RSEF) i l’Associació Internacional d’Estudiants de Física (IAPPS).
